Still, many of them seem to be afraid to do so, as working with just two or three simple musical elements can feel too revealing.

After all, keeping simple things interesting requires heaps of talent, imagination and restraint.

Chinese artist YIJIA, who now resides in London, is not afraid to go simple.

With just her soft voice, an acoustic guitar and some very subdued backing vocals she is able to convey a palpable warmth, and depth of emotion.

While less intentionally crafted attempts at minimalism are often ill fated, YIJIA shows exquisite talent and taste throughout, making this song soar with an intoxicating aura of mystique.
