Anything goes in the sinister beats of S1NINJA (fae/vir), a teenage producer and rapper whose songs are textured with skittering and crunchy sound effects.

On vir new track, the Ireland-based artist constructs a bed of surrealist noise, layering magical nightcore synths with disturbing witch cackles, laser gun noises, and the sound of shattering glass.

All of these elements jolt and lurch into a mesmerizing rhythm, as fae lets off melancholic melodies in a cold, yet strangely affecting Auto-Tune.

Part of the song’s charm comes from vir mumbled and slightly incoherent words, which allow the listener to focus on the texture of vocal sounds and interpret their own meaning, seemingly shifting with every repetition.
