Filtering floor-ready beats through a gauzy and celestial haze, the enigmatic Avition marries her multidisciplinary creative work as a graphic artist and sound designer into the ethereal soundworlds of "Starship".

Bridging unexplored connections between hyperpop, IDM and experimental music, “Starship” is just as dreamily evocative as its title.

It is gritty, both ethereal and muscular, both hyperreal and otherworldly. The track is centered on Avition’s pixyish voice, multilayered to the point of giddy disorientation, while synth pads fizz and cloud about thumping beat production.

Light exists in the cleansing washes of elegiac synthesis, but darkness shadows a tectonic kick with alien language sound design.

Binding these disparate worlds together, Avition’s songwriting is flush with sensitivity, presence and tactility, delicate as Boards of Canada’s gossamer fug one minute and willfully unsettling as SOPHIE’s warped avant-pop the next.

To follow “Starship”, Avition is currently working on her debut album Casing Elixir.
