On the remix to fellow Los Angeles-based artist Maki Adams’ “I Dreamt It Snowed,” producer Fayt unlocks a vast environment for the music to transform and bloom in.

Whereas the original recording grips with numbing bass and glitched out loops, Fayt turns them into blithe synths, sprinting through the damp landscape Adams painted.

The song builds like a slow inhale of cold air, only quelling its elation in the later moments, when the artists’ voice is clearest.

“Take down the moon and dismantle the sun / And I will be alright in timе,” Adams sings. Just as the track finds a comfortable place to settle, Fayt flips it with a resonant breakbeat, dimming the atmosphere and somehow meeting Adams’ sullen, original version halfway.
